Zaks-Walker is new Co-ordinator

(photo)Linda Zaks-Walker brings more than 25 years experience as a teacher and school administrator to her new responsibilities as co-ordinator of the College's Investigations and Hearings Department.

“I'm very pleased to return to the College to lead the Investigations and Hearings Department,” said Zaks-Walker. “The College is committed to meeting its responsibilities to the public and its members by quickly and decisively addressing any concerns that may be raised.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that we continue that commitment.”

Zaks-Walker comes to her new role from Teach in Ontario, where she was project manager of the bridging program that helps internationally educated teachers obtain certification and find employment in Ontario's publicly funded schools.

Prior to taking up that position she worked at the College as acting manager of intake and hearings in the department that she will now head.

From 2001 to 2003 Zaks-Walker was seconded to the Ministry of Education as an education officer in the Field Services Branch. Her work was in early reading and math, teacher testing and elementary education. She inspected private schools and served as liaison to several public school boards.

Zaks-Walker's experience as a teacher and school leader was mainly with the Durham District School Board where she taught elementary school and worked as a principal. She has a Masters of Education degree from OISE/UT. She also holds supervisory officer qualifications in Ontario.
