COUNCIL MEETING

Summary – June 7, 2007

At its June 7 meeting, College Council:

  • approved proposed amendments to the Teachers' Qualifications Regulations relating to the schedules and teaching qualifications for teachers of students who are deaf and hard of hearing
  • amended the guidelines for compensation of Council members so that elected members can be provided with preparation time for pre-hearing panels, the consideration of motions and special circumstances pertaining to the work of the Discipline and Fitness to Practise committees
  • converted nine long-term temporary staff positions at the College to regular staff positions
  • amended the compensation guidelines so that elected members of Council can be paid for preparation time for the Professionally Speaking editorial board
  • approved guidelines for the provision of personal computers for Council members
  • directed the Chair and Registrar to meet with the Ontario Teachers' Federation and affiliates to discuss concerns regarding the Teachers' Network service for internationally educated teachers
  • supported newspaper advertising, not to exceed $150,000, to promote the teaching profession and the ethical standards on World Teachers' Day on October 5, 2007
  • approved an amendment to Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs.
