Teachers’ qualifications

Revised and online

The College is currently developing guidelines for 59 professional learning courses for Ontario teachers and teacher applicants.

A need for the new courses was identified during a two-year College-led review of teacher qualifications, which enjoyed broad participation from Ontario’s education sector. The new professional learning opportunities will help to ensure continued relevance and responsiveness to today’s classrooms.

The guidelines will give providers a framework for developing courses that they will offer beginning in September 2008. Members of the College and education stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide input during the development process for course guidelines.

A complete list of courses to be developed for 2008 can be found at Additional Qualifications at www.oct.ca.
