Annual Meeting

2005 annual meeting

"Teaching presents an opportunity to live a life of purpose – to help young people get a good start in life, to instill a love of learning and to be a role model the community respects and values," Council Chair Marilyn Laframboise told members at the College's annual meeting.

Laframboise welcomed a small number of members to the College's Council chamber on Saturday, October 1, for the annual meeting of members. The meeting provides an opportunity for members to meet with College leaders and question them about the preceding year's events, College policies, finances or anything else of interest to the profession.

As in past years, the Council Chair reviewed the developments of the previous year, reporting on challenges and achievements. She extended a special thanks to the hundreds of members who participated in College consultations on a wide variety of issues, and who volunteered to serve on accreditation panels and to contribute to College activities in myriad ways.

College Registrar Doug Wilson said teachers should see themselves reflected in their professional governing body. "Leadership, excellence, responsibility. These words describe some of the best qualities of the members of our profession and they exemplify the activities of our College in the past year in its service to the public interest."

The date, time and location of the 2006 annual meeting will be announced in the PS Calendar of upcoming issues of Professionally Speaking and on the College web site.
